Hotel Reviews

What our guests say about their stay at our hotel

Great!

The staff were very helpful and always friendly. The room with a small kitchenette was ideal for a vacation with children, clean and tidy. The breakfast was very tasty and left nothing to be desired. We were very satisfied!

Excellent

I always enjoy my stay here

I was already familiar with the hotel from a business stay of several weeks. The location is convenient - close to the Plärrer and with free parking in the side street. I always enjoy coming back here.  The breakfast is also more than adequate and without hidden additional costs for coffee and co.

Wonderful

Great value for money, nice apartment room with everything you need (kettle, fridge, café, water, large bathroom) and good location. It only takes a few minutes to get to the old town. We even got an upgrade with a balcony room and were able to leave our car the whole next day. Nice staff and we would love to come back :-)

Sights in Nuremberg

Old town of St. Lorenz

The Altstadt St. Lorenz district is one of Nuremberg's most beautiful and vibrant neighbourhoods and from the Living Hotel Nuremberg, it is just a few minutes' walk away.

At the heart of the district stands the imposing St. Lorenz Church, whose construction began around 1250, making it one of the most significant Gothic buildings in Bavaria. Step inside and you will find two masterpieces of late Gothic art: the wooden Annunciation by Veit Stoß and the intricate Sacrament House by Adam Kraft, which rises almost twenty metres towards the ceiling. Entry is free, with guided tours starting daily at 2 pm.

Surrounding the church, the neighbourhood buzzes with life: Königstraße and Karolinenstraße form the city's main shopping streets, the Hauptmarkt with its weekly market is just a short walk away, and the Museumsbrücke bridge over the Pegnitz river offers one of the finest views of the old town. Away from the main thoroughfares, winding lanes, half-timbered houses and cosy cafés invite you to slow down.

Imperial Castle of Nuremberg

Nuremberg's Imperial Castle is not only the city's most iconic landmark, but one of the most significant medieval fortresses in Europe. Perched high above the rooftops of the old town, it served as a residence for all Holy Roman Emperors between 1050 and 1571. From 1356 onwards, the Golden Bull of Emperor Charles IV decreed that every newly elected ruler was required to hold his first Imperial Diet in Nuremberg.

Highlights of a visit include the Romanesque double chapel with its late Gothic crucifix by Veit Stoß, the 47-metre Deep Well, and the Sinwell Tower — from the top of which you are rewarded with a sweeping panoramic view across the entire old town. The Imperial Castle Museum is accessible without a guided tour and brings the history of the complex to life. At the foot of the castle, the picturesque Tiergärtnertorplatz with its half-timbered houses and cafés is the perfect spot to round off your visit.

The Imperial Castle is easily reachable in about 30 minutes on foot from our hotel in Nuremberg.

Germanisches Nationalmuseum

The Germanisches Nationalmuseum is the largest cultural history museum in the German-speaking world — and easily reachable on foot from the Living Hotel Nuremberg in around 20 minutes.

Set in the heart of the city, it takes visitors on a journey spanning 600,000 years of European art, culture and history, with over 25,000 permanently exhibited originals on display. Highlights include the Behaim Globe from 1492 — the oldest surviving depiction of the Earth in spherical form, inscribed in the UNESCO Memory of the World Register in 2023 — alongside imperial portraits by Albrecht Dürer and works ranging from prehistoric artefacts to modern art.

The museum is housed in a remarkable architectural ensemble centred around a late medieval Carthusian monastery with its cloisters and church. Directly outside, the Avenue of Human Rights, designed by Israeli sculptor Dani Karavan, is free to explore at any time.

Nuremberg Trials Memorial

On 20 November 1945, the trial against the principal figures of the Nazi regime began in Courtroom 600 of Nuremberg's Palace of Justice. A total of 21 defendants stood accused of war crimes and crimes against peace and humanity. For the first time, crimes against international law were prosecuted in an international criminal trial — a milestone whose influence extends to the International Criminal Court in The Hague today.

The Memorium Nürnberger Prozesse documents the background, course and lasting legacy of these historic trials at the original location. Original audio and film recordings, media terminals and parts of the original dock bring the events vividly to life.

The Memorium Nürnberger Prozesse is an easy 15-minute walk from our serviced apartments in Nuremberg.

Albrecht Dürer House

From 1509, Albrecht Dürer lived and worked for nearly 20 years in this impressive half-timbered house near the Imperial Castle. It is not only one of the few intact townhouses from Nuremberg's golden age, but also the only surviving artist's house from the 16th century in Northern Europe. Since 1828 it has been open as a museum and today ranks among the city's most visited attractions.

Spread across four floors, the house takes visitors deep into the life and work of the artist. The reconstructed painter's workshop shows how Dürer's famous copper engravings and woodcuts were made, with printing demonstrations on historic presses taking place several times daily. The graphic arts cabinet on the third floor showcases works by Dürer and his contemporaries from the city's art collections. A particular highlight is the costumed tour with Agnes Dürer — an actress in the role of Dürer's wife, who brings the house to life in a vivid and personal way.

The Albrecht-Dürer-Haus is an easy 30-minute walk from our aparthotel in Nuremberg.

Events in Nuremberg

Nuremberg delights visitors all year round with a unique variety of experiences and Living Hotel Nürnberg is right at the heart of it all.

In spring, the traditional Spring Festival at Dutzendteich marks the start of the festive season. As temperatures rise, the city transforms into a vibrant open-air stage in summer: Rock im Park draws tens of thousands of music fans to the legendary Zeppelinfeld, while the Bardentreffen turns the Old Town into an international music festival. For those seeking a more relaxed atmosphere, the Klassik Open Air in Luitpoldhain and the special concerts at St. Katharina Open Air, set within the impressive ruins of a medieval monastery, offer unforgettable moments. Motorsport enthusiasts can experience thrilling races at the Norisring, one of Germany’s few true street circuits.

Autumn celebrates Franconian culinary culture at the Franconian Beer Festival, where over 40 regional breweries present their specialties in the historic castle moat. And in winter, as the Old Town sparkles with lights, the Nuremberg Christkindlesmarkt ushers in one of the most atmospheric and traditional Christmas seasons in the world.
