Living Hotels is a family-run hotel chain from Munich and part of the Derag Group. With 18 hotels, we create individual spaces to work, live and stay in the best residential areas of many major German cities as well as in Vienna and Cape Town. This apprenticeship will make you an all-rounder. You will learn how to interact with our guests and create unforgettable experiences for them. You will also acquire the following skills and competencies:
- Knowledge of all activities in the reception area
- Processing of reservations
- Organizing and carrying out events and functions
- Planning, execution & control of housekeeping activities
- Serving food and beverages
- Planning, execution, and control of F&B management
- Development and implementation of sales strategies
- Implementation of revenue and e-distribution strategies
- Development, implementation, and control of marketing strategies
- Instruction and leadership of employees
- Internal interface management between individual departments
We offer cook training in Berlin Weissensee and Weimar. The following contents are taught during the training (according to IHK):
- Preparing a variety of dishes from plant foods, meat, and fish using professional working techniques and equipment
- Making soups and sauces, desserts and salads, doughs and masses
- Planning work processes in the kitchen
- Procuring, receiving, and storing goods
- Determining and calculating costs, yields, and prices
- Sustainable use of food and resources
- Hygiene and documentation
- Developing menu suggestions and advising guests
- Working in a team
- Instructing and leading staff
- Minimum age: 18 years
- Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent degree
- Valid training and residence permit for the entire period of apprenticeship.
- We will of course provide support and issue the necessary confirmations, etc.
- Depending on the location, we can offer staff apartments and provide support in finding accommodation.
- German language skill at B2 level
- Work attitude: Pleasure and fun, punctuality and reliability, sense of responsibility on duty, ability to work in a team
The total training period is 3 years, although a reduction to 2.5 years is possible.
2-pillar model: acquisition of theoretical skills and consolidation of these skills through their practical implementation.
- Theory: Vocational school (depending on the federal state, either as block teaching or 1-2 fixed school days per week), two final examinations
- Practice: In our hotels (with the possibility of changing location), the roster is designed as far as possible according to your wishes

- Intensive exam preparation for trainees takes place before the 1st and 2nd part of the final exam.

- We have small teams with dedicated contact persons. With us, you are not just a number, but are seen and individually supported.
- Support in finding accommodation
- Support with your residence permit and the necessary confirmations, etc.
We make sure that our training is paid fairly. The training allowance varies depending on the location.
- 1st year EUR 900 - EUR 1,100
- 2nd year EUR 1,050 - EUR 1,200
- 3rd year EUR 1,150 - EUR 1,300
All amounts refer to the gross salary per month.
