Slowly but surely, Pre-Christmas time comes to an end. So all passionate Christmas Market visitors should prepare for the final spurt! In the past weeks, we have already presented you the most beautiful Christmas Markets in Munich and Vienna, in Frankfurt and Nuremberg as well as in Berlin and Dusseldorf. So we would like to finish our festive blog series today with some atmospheric recommendations for Bonn and Weimar:
Christmas Market Bonn (24.11. – 23.12.2017)
The Christmas Market Bonn spreads over the Münsterplatz, the Bottlerplatz, the Friedensplatz as well as over the conjunctions Vivatsgasse and Windeckstraße and over the Poststraße. You will be welcomed there by hot wine punch, hot honey mead, delicious roast chestnuts and Rhenish but also Hungarian specialities. In altogether more than 180 booths, Christmas gift ideas, wood articles, cribs, art handicrafts, pottery and leather ware, jewelry and beeswax candles directly from the beekeeper and much more is offered. For the little ones, a puppet show is performed at the Sterntor every Sunday. Aside from that, the kids can keep themselves busy in the Christmas house on the Münsterplatz while their parents amble along the alleys. Looked after by pedagogical qualified personnel and often also by artisans, the children can learn techniques like poker work, candle dipping or ceramic works and can rage themselves out creatively or just play together. On Saturdays, you can additionally listen to the festive brass music from the hot wine punch pyramid at the Bonner Münster.
Weimar Christmas Market (28.11. – 05.01.2018)
Also the Christmas Market in the culture town Weimar spreads over different locations. On the Theatre Square the round tour over the Christmas Market traditionally begins. With view to the impressing German national theatre, you can enjoy your hot wine punch and many delicacies.This year, there is also an ice rink, where the ice skaters can circuit the Goethe and Schiller memorial. From the Schillerstraße to the Frauentorstraße some lovely designed booths are stringing together which complement the Christmas inner-city shopping in the stores in a festive way. The market square however, forms the main attraction of the Weimar Christmas Market. A huge tan decorated with numerous lights and the town hall which is turned into a giant Advent calendar are enchanting the visitors. Moreover, Santa Claus hands out gifts to the little guests and in the fable cottage, everyday a great programme for children is offered. This year for the first time, also the Herderplatz comes up with its own booths.
