Frankfurt’s Events in March

After we have already informed you about Berlin’s exciting events in March last week, today, we would like to present you the most important sensation in Frankfurt this month:

Luminale (18th – 23rd of March 2018)

In March, Frankfurt’s houses, streets and squares will be glowing again! Since 2002, every two years, the biennial for light and media art as well as for city design takes place in Frankfurt and Offenbach. The versatile programme invites participants to rediscover the city and therefore the Luminale counts to the most popular events of the Rhine-Main area with more than 200.000 visitors so far. The festival is divided into five different projects:

Luminale ART: Via video mapping, photography, installations and multimedia, extraordinary artists engage with the field of tension between light and city. The prefigurations of the on-topic light art are the architecture, history, reception and usage of specific places as well as relevant questions concerning the city Frankfurt. Moreover, the Light Walk invites to a discovery tour in the city-centre, passing the artistic works and thereby connecting the landmarks, memorials and hidden places of Frankfurt with each other.

Luminale SOLUTIONS: This format brings renowned experts from the disciplines politics, culture, science and society together in a dialogue about the future and the city development in the Rhine-Main area as well as in global regard in theory and practice. The most important topics hereby are the individual, architecture, safety, environment and light in the city. The light-flooded Spanish culture centre, Instituto Cervantes, provides the perfect location for this.

Luminale STUDY: Here, the projects of universities and other education institutes are presented in order to also grant young talents room for their own perspectives and visions.

Luminale COMMUNITY: Likewise, the urban community gets the possibility to address topics like design, development and quality of living of the public space with self initiated contributions, exhibitions, events and experiments.

Luminale BETTER CITY: This area involves projects which survive permanently and thereby make a visible contribution to the sustainability of the whole Luminale Festival.

You should definitely not miss out on this versatile and glowing spectacle! So, what are you waiting for? Plan your trip to the beautiful Rhine-Main metropolis! Our comfortable Living Hotels are also represented in Frankfurt, by the way! Stop by, we are looking forward to welcoming you!

Berlin’s Events in March

In Germany’s capital city, there is alway something going on as there is scarcely a place as versatile as Berlin! Therefore, we will reveal which events you should not miss out on in the next month here:

Internationale Tourismusbörse (7th – 11th of March 2018)

With more than 10.000 exhibitors which cover all possible sectors of the tourist traffic, like for example countries from all over the world, tour operators, transport carriers, hotels and booking systems, the ITB in the fairgrounds under the radio tower is the leading trade fair when it comes to international tourism. From the 7th until the 9th of March, the exhibition will open exclusively for trade visitors which will get the unique possibility to learn about the latest trends of the branch, get to know influential business partners and build up some new connections. On the 10th and 11th of March, also private visitors are warmly welcomed at the ITB who will explore the whole world in only a few hours and thereby gather exciting inspirations for travelling. In addition to that, the ITB children’s world awaits the little ones with a colourful programme. While playing, being creative, getting the face painted, watching a movie at the children’s cinema or a magic show, it will definitely not get boring while the parents ramble around the exhibition grounds.

MaerzMusik (16th – 25th of March 2018)

Shortly afterwards, “MaerzMusik”, the festival for questions of time will take place, also in Berlin. Especially young and renowned artists from all over the world will dedicate their music to red-hot questions which are all occupying us currently. The slowly but surely proceeding destruction of our environment, the time war of capitalism, the ubiquitous presence of the media, the voluntary and forced migration and the digital time regime belong to the exciting topics which will be expressed in concerts, sound installations, performances and discussions, for instance. As versatile as the programme of the music festival are its locations. The “Haus der Berliner Festspiele”, the “Martin-Gropiu-Bau”, the “Kammermusiksaal” of the philharmonic orchestra, the “Konzerthaus Berlin” or the “Kraftwerk” are only a few examples of the numerous event sites.

We wish all of those who will come to Germany’s capital city for the ITB or the “MaerzMusik” festival a great time! We are looking forward to welcoming you in one of our Living Hotels in Berlin during your stay!

Summer in Munich

The past days proved it beyond doubt: summer found its way into the Bavarian state capital! And where could you spend a more exciting summer than in Munich? For the upcoming hot months, there is already a diverse programme that we would like to present to you in the following:

At the moment, the motley Tollwood summer festival takes place in the Olympic Park. Here, you will find culinary bio-delicacies from all over the world, great live music and numerous booths with creative craftsmanship until the 16th of July. Moreover, the organisers are very involved with humans, animals and the environment – pure soulfulness and fair enjoyment of culture are guaranteed.

Christopher Street Day

We continue colourfully from the 8th to the 16th of July at the annual Christopher Street Day and the Pride Week. In keeping with the motto “Same rights. Against right-wing” a varied programme is offered, consisting of street parties, demos, church services, concerts and cinema. Highlight is the policy parade on the 15th of July.

impark Sommerfestival

If you are missing some beach feeling in the heart of the city, you should visit the impark summer festival in the Olympic park. From the 3rd to the 27th of August, you can stroll down the gourmet alley, enjoy the fantastic view over Munich from the big wheel or cool off with a white-water ride. Those who like it more relaxed, can drink a Mojito in a deckchair of the beach bar filled with sand while watching the risky tricks of the wakeboarders in the Olympic lake. At the 10th and the 24th of August, there are spectacular fireworks in the evening.

If you would rather like to carry on in the good old-fashioned way,  you must not miss out the “Kocherlball” on the 23rd of July at the Chinese Tower in the English Garden. The tradition of this popular open-air folk dance event originates in the 19th century, when the house workers met early in the morning before the commencement of their duties to dance. Nowadays, everybody with enough courage can join under professional dance instructions.

And from the 16th of September to the 3rd of October, the most popular event in Munich takes place: the Oktoberfest…

And to those who travel to Munich for these special events, we can only recommend a room in one of our Living Hotels, because here it is most livable, especially in summer. We are looking forward to welcoming you here!
